This course offers students the opportunity to explore the world of game development and design. Students will learn the principles of game design, including game mechanics, player engagement, and user experience. They will develop knowledge and skills in computational thinking and problem-solving, data and information, and cybersecurity. Students will make connections between concepts of mathematics and computer science, data through the use of computing devices, and concepts of cybersecurity. Students will create, evaluate, and modify algorithms, create programs to solve problems, analyze the utilization of computers within the industry, analyze communication methods and systems used to transmit information among computing devices, and utilize appropriate hardware and software. This course also covers the creative aspects of game development, such as storytelling, world-building, and level design. Students will also analyze the impacts of technology and professionalism within the computing community and demonstrate an understanding of storytelling with data and appropriately communicating technical information.
