Concurrent Credit Campus

We are an Arkansas-based program that is implemented through a partnership between the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Education Service Cooperatives. We provide an array of quality digital courses to public school students in Arkansas and utilize Arkansas-licensed instructors. We are not an online high school or a diploma-granting institution but are a resource for supplementing education for public school students. Students who are enrolled in a public school may be enrolled in Virtual Arkansas courses by the local school administration.

Virtual Arkansas’s Concurrent Campus provides opportunities for students to earn college credit while simultaneously earning high school credits through a partnership with Arkansas Tech University. The following courses are offered through this partnership: Comp I and II, U.S. History to 1877, U.S. History since 1877, World History to 1500, World History since 1500, Beginning Spanish I and II, Public Speaking, Experiencing Art, College Math, College Algebra, Personal Health and Wellness, and Introduction to Biological Science. College credit earned for these can be transferred to any public college or university in Arkansas. Virtual Arkansas’s Concurrent Campus also offers the following courses from the Arkansas Teacher Residency Program: Introduction to Education, Education Technology, and Child Growth & Development.

Visit the ATU website for more information.

Virtual Arkansas full-service courses provide access to an Arkansas certified instructor and curriculum within a modified blended learning environment. Web-based applications are used to deliver courses and provide students with concurrent educational opportunities. Although students spend most of their time engaged with the interactive online curriculum, they also are able to engage with their instructor using a web-based application that transmits audio, video, content, and chats. Although the courses are online, we provide access to the instructor on a regular basis.

All instructors in this program maintain current Arkansas teacher certification and meet the state qualifications for teaching concurrent classes. Each instructor’s credentials have been approved by ATU to teach the concurrent courses offered.
