ARKANSAS MILITARY SERVICE & SECURITY
Course Number: 59362V
The Arkansas Military Service and Security course immerses students in the rich history, vital missions, and modern capabilities of the Arkansas National Guard, while also exploring key events in Arkansas history that have shaped the state's role in national security. Students will examine how the Guard has evolved from its early militia roots to its present-day role in homeland security, disaster response, and global military operations. Through engaging lessons, hands-on projects, and real-world problem-solving, students will analyze leadership principles, teamwork, and service readiness while preparing for the ASVAB and exploring military and public service career opportunities. Additionally, students will investigate Arkansas’s economic, social, and political history, evaluating how past events—including territorial expansion, the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement—connect to the Guard’s mission today. This course fosters critical thinking, leadership, and civic responsibility, preparing students for both military and civilian pathways while encouraging them to serve their communities with integrity and purpose.
