AP PSYCHOLOGY

Course Number: 579120

AP Psychology introduces students to the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. Throughout the course, students explore major areas of psychology, including the biological bases of behavior, cognition, development and learning, social psychology, personality, and mental and physical health. Students examine how psychological theories, concepts, and research findings help explain how people think, feel, learn, develop, interact, and respond to the world around them.

In addition to learning psychology content, students develop the skills used by psychologists to study behavior and mental processes. Students apply psychological concepts to real-world scenarios, evaluate research methods and ethical procedures, interpret psychological data from tables, graphs, charts, and figures, and construct evidence-based claims. The course is designed to reflect an introductory college-level psychology course and prepare students for success on the AP Psychology Exam.
