This course is a study of texts relating to entrepreneurship and innovation. Students will analyze what success looks like and the written and visual process involved with developing innovative solutions while learning from failure.
This course provides students with opportunities to study and analyze a variety of complex technical, informational, and multimedia texts related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and business development. Students will explore what success looks like in entrepreneurial and professional contexts by examining case studies, business models, proposals, and visual and written communications used in real-world industries.
Through close reading, research, and analysis, students will investigate the written and visual processes involved in developing innovative solutions, including identifying problems, designing solutions, and communicating ideas clearly and persuasively. Emphasis is placed on understanding how innovation often involves trial, error, and learning from failure. Students will evaluate how successful entrepreneurs and innovators use feedback, revision, and reflection to improve products, services, and processes.
The course integrates technical reading, argumentative and explanatory writing, collaborative discussion, and professional presentations. Students will produce discipline-specific writing such as proposals, process explanations, reflections, and presentations using digital tools. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate the ability to analyze technical and entrepreneurial texts, communicate innovative ideas effectively, and apply literacy skills to real-world professional and career-focused contexts.
This course aligns with the Arkansas English Language Arts Standards for Technical Professions and prepares students for college, career, and workforce readiness through authentic literacy tasks connected to entrepreneurship and innovation.
