Human Anatomy and Physiology continues to develop conceptual understanding of the core ideas, science and engineering practices, and crosscutting concepts in Biology – Integrated. This is a career-focused course for students interested in medical professions and related fields. Human Anatomy and Physiology is an upper-division life science course where students will study the structure, basic functions, and common disorders of the human body. The course will concentrate on the major systems of the body: integumentary, skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous, endocrine, lymphatic, urinary, and reproductive.

LIFE READINESS: SKILLS FOR CAREER AND LIFE GRADE 7/8
This course focuses on life skills that are important for middle school students. These skills will help students succeed in school and in life. Topics in this course will include: developing emotional intelligence, having a positive attitude about yourself and others, communication skills with an introduction to speaking in public, creative and critical thinking, and showing respect and courtesy to people of different backgrounds and beliefs. This course allows students to learn while having fun. Interactive examples help guide students’ journey through customized feedback and praise.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
This course expands upon the concepts covered in the Programming Year 1 course and places significant emphasis on developing proficiency in computer programming/coding with a Java focus. Students will learn to analyze problems and develop solutions to those problems in a collaborative learning environment. Multiple technologies will be engaged in order to equip students with fluencies that will enable them to adapt to the constantly-changing field of computer science.

In this course, students explore: The Foundations of Science, Energy, The Earth and its features, The Earth’s internal and external structures and how they change, The Earth’s history, living things and how they change and interact, Genetics and Heredity, and The Organization of the living world. Some of these topics are introduced and serve as a foundation for Comprehensive Science Three and others are discussed in detail. Students will learn through real-world examples and virtually visit 6 different continents to see science in action all over the world. Students will participate in activities and online laboratory experiences to apply what they have learned.
