This course provides students with a general overview of psychology from the perspective of the healthcare community that includes the history of psychology, research methods, major theories, and applications of the knowledge to the problems and challenges faced by today’s health care professionals. Other areas addressed are biological foundations of behavior, consciousness, memory, learning, emotion, personality, psychological disorders, and methods of therapy. Students gain a better understanding of mental health and the impact it has on providing quality health care.
